Project Objectives

  1. To determine the burden of disease associated with Non Communicable diseases in a population setting
  2. To establish risk factors for Non-communicable diseases in a rural population
  3. To establish the lipid profile and conduct imaging tests on recruited study participants

Project Design

It is a Cohort study. The study draws blood, urine and saliva from the recruited study participants and conducts ECGs as well .The targeted age groups are: 20-24 years and 35-39 years respectively. The study sample was randomly selected from a population cohort of MUCHAP/ Iganga-Mayuge HDSS.

Projects Descriptions

The Cardiovascular risk- factor assessment study recruits participants by collecting Social- demographic information, taking weight and height. Blood, urine and saliva samples are also drawn for future laboratory examination. ECGs are conducted on every participant to assess the functioning of the heart.
